Description
The PESS (Peace Education for Secondary Schools) Manual is a practical curriculum equipping secondary school students with the knowledge, values, attitudes and skills to understand peace, navigate conflict, embrace diversity, communicate effectively and build positive relationships. It combines structured lessons with participatory activities and serves as both a learner-focused curriculum and a practical teacher’s and facilitator’s guide for meaningful peace education and active citizenship.

Moses Abolade –
As I went through the PESS Manual, I found myself reflecting on how early conversations about peace can shape the way young people understand conflict, relationships and their place in society. What particularly stood out to me is that the manual does not simply speak to students. The guidance for teachers makes it feel practical and intentional, giving educators the confidence to create spaces where young people can question, reflect and learn how to choose peace in everyday situations.
For me, this is what makes the PESS Manual meaningful: it is not just a book about peace, but a resource that can help make peace a lived experience in the classroom.
